Back to Baltimore
Find the station
in the early morning rain
Find a place between the impatiens
Push apart the morning dew
swolen from the rain
Try to find a place among your pain
Found a little faith
but the audience lied
Just another face on location
Found a little piece of you
in someone else's eyes
I take what I find
I don't ask for reasons
And we go back to a place where I've been
Back to Baltimore
To the places I remember
And the people I have seen
And a boy who smiles and
bears a slight resemblance to me
Well, now who's going to take the
time to make sure everything's alright ?
Who's going to bring the curtains
down on you ?
Who's going to burn the mirror,
baby, down the other side ?
Who's going to notice everything I do ?
Close your eyes and the
train runs by again
Whistle shivers out into the distance
I keep missing precious
seconds moments pass me by
I wish I could offer some resistance
And we go back to a place where I've been
Back to Baltimore
To the places I remember
And the people I have seen
And a boy who smiles and
bears a slight resemblance to me
Well, now who's going to take the
time to make sure everythings alright ?
Who's going to bring the curtains
down on you ?
Who's going to burn the mirror,
baby, down the other side ?
Who's going to notice everything I do ?
And we go back to a place where I've been
Back to Baltimore
To the places I remember
And the people I have seen
And a boy who smiles and
bears a slight resemblance to me

Janie
I was walking down the street one day last week,
Janie came up to me, and she say,
"Said I got two eight balls for eyes
They're gonna roll right into your heart any day now"
Well I said, "Baby, if you fall into a pocket in my heart,
it's gonna pump you away."
But Janie walks in crooked circles
When she leaves, you know she's always here to stay.
When they say you're coming home,
I can watch you walk away
The sensations are the same
my television says the same things anyway.
Sometimes Janie stands beneath a storm, and tells me
rain doesn't really fall everywhere
She says that there's a place to hide
if she could only fit inside
the space between the falling water and the air
Oooooh, but that's no reason
for you to stand outside in the rain
Baby, you can drown yourself in sorrow
Just don't try to tell them that it's pain
It's so much simpler if we all use the same names.
Janie watches all the walls
'cause she's afraid they're gonna run away
to Paris or to Rome,
while Janie sits alone at home
But colors always run
and nothing's perfect when it's done
The people do the best they can.
or so they say.
It all seems the same to Janie anyway.
Janie's way behind her eight balls.
In a pocket
watching, looking, staring out at me
And the life we take for granted is
very different from the visions Janie sees
Do you wonder, wonder, wonder
what's behind your televsion screen ?
Janie's there behind the looking glass,
looking for a reason to dream.
And the person in her eyes is who Janies wants to be
Tell them everything they want,
but Janie, just don't ever tell them what you see.
Or they'll lock you up and throw away the key.
Janie watches all the walls 'cause she's afraid they're gonna run away
to Paris or to Spain, while Janie slowly goes insane.
But colors always run and nothing's perfect when it's done
The people do the best they can. Or so they say.
Hey, it all seems the same to Janie anyway.
It all seems the same to Janie anyway.
It all seems the same to Janie anyway.
Janie watches all the walls 'cause she's afraid they're gonna run away to Paris or London while Janie's swallowing a gun.
But this is not a game 'cause everybody ends the same.
It's not that Janie's such a sucker, she's been lied to motherf***er, it's such a shame.
Jamie learned the rules to someone else's game.
Oh, Jamie learned the rules to someone else's game.
